A shipment is only as safe as its packaging. Every crate we build is designed for its contents — maximum protection at the economical dimensions that keep your air and sea freight affordable.
Crates built for the cargo, not off the shelf
A kudu shoulder mount, a full-body leopard, a set of raw-skin trophies bound for an overseas taxidermist — each needs different protection. Our warehouse team designs and builds a custom crate for every consignment: braced where the piece is fragile, padded where it bears weight, and dimensioned tightly so you never pay freight on empty space.
We crate and ship trophies at both ends of the taxidermy journey. Dip-and-pack consignments — treated raw skins, skulls and horns leaving South Africa for mounting at your taxidermist back home — are packed to veterinary export standards. Finished mounts, including those handed to us directly by the studio, are crated with the structural support detailed work demands. Either way, your trophies leave our facility ready for the voyage.
Protection that pays for itself
Freight is charged on volume and weight, so over-built crates cost you money and under-built crates risk your trophies. Two decades of crating hunting trophies lets us hit the balance: every crate ships fully insurable, stacks safely in a container or aircraft hold, and arrives ready to open with everything exactly as it left.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is dip and pack?
Dip-and-pack is the veterinary treatment and export packing of raw trophies — skins, skulls and horns — so they can legally leave South Africa for mounting by a taxidermist in your home country. We crate and ship dip-and-pack consignments to veterinary export standards.
Can you crate finished taxidermy mounts?
Yes. Finished mounts are our specialty — we were founded by the team behind Highveld Taxidermists and crate detailed work with the structural support it demands.
How much does trophy crating cost?
Crating is quoted per consignment based on the pieces being shipped. Tight, custom dimensions usually pay for themselves in reduced freight charges.
Are crated shipments insured?
Yes. Every crate we build ships fully insurable, and cargo insurance is available on all air and sea freight consignments.
